Left foot exercise.

This is one of those "old fashioned" naturally asperated cars that need left foot participation to operate its very smooth 6 speed manual transmission. It has abundant power and handling that says to the average driver "is that all you've got?" In "M" mode the sound of the 500+ HP pursing through the V-10 is thrilling. While 0-to-speed limit acceleration can be fun on city streets, this car belongs in the mountains where handling and power can be appreciated. Great performance coupled with a well appointed cabin, heads-up display, lack of paddle shifters, and a comfortable drive makes this a thoroughly enjoyable vehicle to drive. - 5.0
Head Turning V10 Beast

Who needs music? The V10 note and exhaust rumble from the Eisenmann mufflers is like an orchestra in itself. I get people asking about the car all the time. The E63/64 M6 is the last of its kind, BMW will never produce a naturally aspirated V10 (or V8 for that matter) ever again. Hold on to them if you can, theyll one day be collectibles. Try to avoid the 06 and 07 models unless you know the SMG was recently change. Those earlier models are plagued with transmission and drive issues, and dont have all the technology bells and whistles of the 08-10 LCI models (such as updated iDrive controls, high res display, upgraded navigation, disk storage, upgraded trunk lid, etc..). If youre looking to buy one, try and get the 2010 model for the reasons mentioned above and the fact it was the final production year. Regular oil changes (3-5k) is key to keeping these thirsty beasts maintained and always have an extra quart of BMW synthetic in your trunk in case the beast needs a drink of oil while on the road. Use only premium 93+ octane gas, and let the car warm up for a while before putting it into M mode. All those who stated the car is clunky were likely driving it in auto (aka grandma mode). This beast is specifically designed to be driven in manual mode. If you know how to drive it right, the transmission shifts flawlessly and the ride is anything but clunky. I upgraded to 20 ACS rims. A few minor mods to get it close to 520 bhp. Next mod: RPI or SuperSprint headers for another 50 hp! - 5.0

Yes, talk about performance, horsepower, styling all you want. For me, it's all about smiles. Just looking at my 2008 brings me a smile. 0-speed limit is a blast (had a chance the other day to run up with a late model M-3...so much fun...only after did I realize I hadn't even been in M mode). I get the most smiles per mile when driving on the back roads here in the Mountains (15mph hairpins at 35-40 without even pushing the envelope). I loved my 91 M-5 and have thoroughly enjoyed my 318, 325, and X5 but this is just joy. Sorry not much "driver lingo" here.....just smiles. Only wish I could share the experience with 3 others.....the back seat is pretty useless.
